Liz graduated with a degree in Pharmacology from the University of Bristol and a PhD in Neuropharmacology from the University of London. For the past 7 tears, Liz has enjoyed managing the University of Edinburgh’s engineered biology research centres. She moved to Scotland to work for ITI Lifesciences as a technology and market analyst, transferring to Scottish Enterprise as an analyst in the life sciences sector team. She then spent 6 years as a science and business writer and editor (FT and Nature Biotechnology) before venturing into technology transfer (University of Southampton). Liz has had a varied career across the life sciences and biotechnology sectors from research roles in academia (Sydney, Toronto and Cambridge, UK) and the biotech industry. She helps shape the Innovation Centre’s strategy, helping to deliver its key aims of building new opportunities and accelerating commercialisation. Liz joined IBioiC in March 2021 as Director of Business Engagement and Operations, managing the day-to-day operational aspects of IBioIC. Paul has a firm belief that the development of the UK's technological and manufacturing industries, particularly in the field of biotechnology, holds the key to future growth and prosperity, as well as being integral to improved global welfare. With extensive experience of value generation in public market and private equity environments, business turnaround/reorganisation and driving profitable sales growth, Paul has broad sector exposure spanning chemicals/fine chemicals(ICI, Courtaulds), FMCG manufacturing, electrical equipment and life sciences/biotechnology, with a recent focus on sustainable technologies. He also chairs the the UKRI BBSRC Bioscience for the Renewable Resources and Clean Growth Strategy Advisory Panel.
He chairs the Industrial Biotechnology Leadership Forum (IBLF) which acts as a visible point of strategic coordination of the UK’s fast growing industrial biotechnology sector through a grouping of active participants from industry, the research community, public access scale-up facilities, funding agencies, government and other key stakeholders. He joined in 2007 and has since taken the company’s breakthrough science from laboratory to commercial operations and built a fast-growing entity focused on the bioplastics market. Paul is CEO of AIM listed sustainable technology business, Biome Technologies Plc.
